TCS and Accenture to the Rescue: Engineering Graduates Find Hope Amidst 'Worst Placement Season

In a ray of hope for engineering graduates facing the gloom of what is being termed as 'one of the worst-ever placement seasons,' industry giants Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Accenture emerge as saviours, leading the way in campus hirings.

Reports from the Economic Times indicate that TCS, in particular, has taken the lead in extending job offers, bringing much-needed relief to colleges and students alike.

At Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), nearly 10% of the robust 9000-strong batch has secured promising job offers from TCS. Meanwhile, Chennai's SRM Institute of Technology (SRMIST) witnessed a surge in IT opportunities, with TCS making a whopping 410 offers for three distinct profiles: Prime (₹9 lakh per annum), Digital in the middle, and Ninja (₹3-4 lakh per annum), as confirmed by Dr. N Venkata Sastry, the director of the career centre at SRMIST.

In a notable development, TCS has introduced Prime salary profiles at both VIT Vellore and SRMIST, marking a significant milestone in the partnership between the renowned software firm and these academic institutions.

At a recent Nasscom session, K Krithivasan, TCS chief executive, expressed the company's commitment to hiring, stating, "We have no plans to reduce our hiring plans and will continue to hire the same way we have been doing. Probably, we will have to change the hiring phase, but no cutting down on our plans, for sure."

As TCS and Accenture step up their recruitment efforts, a sense of optimism spreads among engineering graduates, turning what seemed to be a bleak placement season into an unexpected opportunity for career advancement.
